Getting Pistons Made?

Post by jeffspohn »

Thank you for your answers to my previous questions. I hope I can get
some more quick advice.
I'm having a machinist assist me in rebuilding my Coupe engine. The
cylinders need to be rebored, and so I need new pistons. Since he
can't find any sources for oversize pistons that will work, he wants
to make me new ones for $165 per piston.
My question is... is this a reasonable way to go? Before I spend the
money, I want a little assurance that I'm making the right decision.
Thanks again,
-Jeff

I had high performance custom ones made for $100 each - but then I had
to order a minimum of 4. (They won't work for a stock engine.) I'd
bet if you shop around you can find a better deal.
Someone on the list should respond - if not I can check with my
sponsor on getting a source.
