Complete Honda 600 z coupe exhaust

I have the following for sale: nos Honda z coupe muffler, nos Honda z coupe center pipe, header pipe, front engine pipe, heat exchanger pipe, down pipe, tail pipe, all hangers, gaskets and clamps, basically a complete exhaust system for a 1971- 1972 z coupe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there any reason you can't use a glass pak for a muffler??

Honda 600's thrive on back pressure. A Honda 600 coupe has basically
3 mufflers on it and pipes reduce from 1 1/2" to 1 1/4" at the end. A
glass pack is not efficient one a Honda 600.

I had a glasspak put on my sedan since the original muffler turned out to be a spark arrestor from an old generator. Part of the exhaust pupe was some type of flexible metal hose that rattled like crazy and made all kinds of noise! The glasspak seems to work but it's a bit loud. I'd sure like to find an original exhaust system.

Hi Dennis,
I wish I had known - I just had the exhaust joint pipe (that wraps around the motor), center pipe and tail pipe created for me (I already have a nice muffler). It would have been nice to replace it all with stock stuff.
My center pipe has no silencer on it, unlike the original. The exhaust guy said I could add a glasspak to the section if I thought the coupe was too loud. Do you suppose that it would really make much difference? The car sounds pretty decent as it is now.

I heard some of the Harley boys talking about knocking the baffles out of the muffler to make it louder but said something about Carb?? or timing?? would have to be retuned due to some king of back pressure deal. A Harley is not in my future so I didn't pay a lot of attention. I think Miles said the 600 needed that kind of back pressure. I really don't understand all I know about that
so I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
BTW picked up the NAPA rear shocks and started taking one off and didn't finish as I was getting overheated and running out of o2. But it sure looks like a perfect fit. Gas filled......

Uh, oh. Miles, what are the the effects of not having proper back pressure
for one's coupe? My coupe is down to one muffler (it is stock).

When you decrease the backpressure, you increase the engine's volumetric efficiency.
Depending on how much so, it could easily be adjusted with the carb's air/fuel mixture screw.
If it's a drastic change, like a less restrictive exhaust and a performance air filter (or getting rid of the stock airbox), the carbs will most likely have to be rejetted or you run the risk of leaning out the engine and burning a hole through a piston.
