hi i just have a question about my az600. when i start it is starts right up and with the choke or the gas peddle it runs smooth at 2000 rpm. as it slows down it starts getting rough and if i don't use the gas to get it up to 1800 rpm it slows down and gets more rough and finally quits. my carb solonid is burnt and i plan to replace it could that be my problem. or is it something else? it doesen't blow smoke and is quiet for a honda 600. any ideas? dean

I am assuming your car works fine if you drive it and keep moving. If that is the case, your problem may be
1) Where the carb is clamped to the intake boot, this may not be well sealed and you are getting a slight
air leak
2) you have a problem with the idle circuit of your carb. It probably needs to be cleaned which usually requires dismantling the carb and soaking it in carb cleaner and cleaning out the passageways
3) take a look at your spark plugs (put in some new ones to do this test). If the plugs look black or wet, your carb may be running rich. Also, check the air/idle jet screw on the side of the carb.
4) make sure you have an o-ring in place and it is good on the carb solenoid. The solenoid plunger should retract when you turn on the ignition. You can also connect/disconnect the wiring and watch the plunger go in and out. If it does that, the solenoid is ok.
5) check the settings for dwell and timing.
