Repro parts
Why havent people began making reproduction parts for the N and Z.

Here is my opinion:
The market is not big enough. Though there is no authoritative number of 600s either running or restorable (though BIll C can come close), I imagine that it's in the low thousands, like two or three thousand. On the other hand , for instance, British Leyland sold a half a million MGBs in the USA over the course of 20 years. There are a LOT of them left, and Moss Motors and others have nice fat catalogs of repro parts for that car and others. That, and that to me at least, Japanese cars as collectables have not caught on like old US, British, Italian, German and others have.

Because people do not want to pay for them .
All the people who have reproduced parts have to listen to all the people that need them say why so much?
Not realizing how little these people are making after all of there hard work and effort.

I have made parts and I still make some parts. The Oil pump rods I made cost me $75.00 each, I put out about $1800.00 to get a batch made. It took 3 years to resell them all.
I had a batch of flywheel pullers produced, maybe 100 pieces. But the machinist wouldn't make any more for me as he broke 10 or more carbide tool bits. And it took 5 years for me to sell all of those.
I currently make shifter bushings and steering rack bushings when I have time, I have machinery at home.
I rebuild items such as fan pullies but they take too much time and money in parts to make any money on.
Mike OConnor has piston kits made and Bill Colford has head gaskets made and has a DIY kit for the other gaskets, he also has a number of other products available.
I think if you go look in the Database section of this group you will find a list of repro'd items.

So, the initial cost is 6K for tooling and set up for a left and right brake light lens. Then add an additional $15.00 a lens and don't forget the minimum run of 1K each.
Outlay is $36K, now divide that by the number of Honda AN600's left on the road. With my list of Honda 600's on the road totaling about 250 the math does not give a good pay back on the out put.
Recently I had the 3 Heat Exchanger gaskets for Sedans built after 1 Apr 71 and all Coupes. Ready to install Honda Part numbers 18412-623-670, 18435-623-670 and 18456-623-670. For almost the same price Honda was selling them in their last book, which came out in 1996. Keeping prices to the lowest level is the goal and allows Honda 600 owners the capability of keeping their Honda 600 on the road.

Shipping is also a killer on Parts Train. I was going to order 3 gas filters and oil filter cap. S&H was higher than the 4 small light items. I said forget it.
