Here's what I ended up doing.
My stock main fuse had connectors that were shorting out against the fender and that simple "Z" bracket holding the stock 45 amp fuse was really ineffective and I didn't hold a lot of trust in it.
Therefore I decided to just simply replace the main fuse with something more modern & readily available should I need to replace the fuse in the future. I went to Pep Boys to see what they have since it seems their web site is based on entering brand/model of car for replacement.
Pep Boys had a Littelfuse generic main fuse block that attaches to the firewall with 1 screw.
The 2 connectors than screw into it in a way that is on opposite side of the fender so no chance of shorting out.
The "maxi" size fuse then plugs into it.
I bought that along with a 40amp fuse. About $12 for both items.
I unscrewed the "Z" bracket and moved the relay or whatever was closer towards the front to the hole that held the "Z" bracket.
The now available hole holds the new fuse block with this "Maxi" size 40amp fuse in it.
Sure it's not 45amp but working perfectly. I don't have any additional power sucking accessories so 40amp should be fine.
Last night everything worked fine with lights, highbeam, 4-way flahers, stereo on and brake lights all operating fine at idle. I feel much more confident in this set up using something that's readily available should I need to replace the fuse. Thanks again for the info you all provided! Erik.
