Headlights/parking lights won't work, 72 sedan. Can anyone tell me if that
2" x 1" square box under the dash, next to the flasher relay, is the
HEADLIGHT relay?
Thanks, Tom

Re: headlight relay?
Tom,
Parking lights don't run through the headlight relay. I'd check first blown fuse, then dirty contacts on fuse block, then bad headlight switch.

Re: headlight relay?
Thanks, Miles. My N600 has only four fuses on the side, under the glovebox
and none tested as going to the headlights. No power going to headlight
switch so it is probably OK. So where is the headlight fuse located?

Re: headlight relay?
Headlight fuse is in that fuse block. The red wire I think. Take that complete block off with 1 phillips screw. I like to lightly sandblast the whole thing and replace it. You could just sand all the contacts.
Top fuse is Heater blower possibly yellow & red
2nd fuse is Rev lights, turn sigs, wiper & gas gauge.
3rd fuse is Side lights, tail, license, brake & headlights and is red
4th fuse is horn, room lamp, radio, hazards, haha and I wrote car phone etc on my wire diagram That wire is white with blue stripe.

Re: headlight relay?
Do follow Miles' advice and look closely at the condition of the fuse contacts on the fuse block. When I had my N600 years ago, I experienced major trouble with electrical circuits - as I recall, it might have been headlights going out, actually - and close inspection of the fuse block revealed corrosion in the form of a white powdery substance coating the contacts. To fix it, I disconnected the battery, pulled the fuses, and scrubbed the fuse contacts with a wire brush until they were shiny. No more problems after I replaced the fuses and reconnected the battery.
(Interestingly, I've seen no such problems in the fuse block of my coupe --so far, at least.)
Good luck tracking down the problem, Tom!

Re: headlight relay?
We use Limeaway the bathroom product to clean electrical contacts. Soak the part for a few minuits. Makes copper parts look like new. It is an acid so make sure to rince off any excess.

Re: headlight relay?
Did you check the headlight switch itself? I had one that had an internal failure and I only discovered it after I temporily wired around the switch. I was actually putting jumpers around every fuse and connection point from the battery to the headlights. Having a handfull of wires with alligator clips on both ends around is always helpful when dealing with old cars.
