Remote Oil Filter

So far so good. Center bolt is drilled out. Hex end is drilled 7/16 dia and tapped. Holes filled. Tig with brass rod. I will probably use a street elbow so I can go to barb AN or steel tubing. I drill out the ball seat with a 1/2" drill in a vise and the hole for taping on a lathe.
Nothing new here everything is based on Bill C's research and testing.

Mark This is the way my mind works. I get this idea. I try it on my car. It works great. Then I think about sharing it or maybe producing it. So I make a few and someone fails to tighten/install the item correctly and their motor burns up. These days it is not like "Wow" I messed my motor up, it is I'm going to sue that guy for even giving out the idea let alone making the part.
I should also add that making one was fun. Having to make many would not be. How much would you think drilling, taping and plugging would be worth? I would have no idea. I think I had about an hour in the prototype.

kudos to you David!, I'd like to make a oil cooler system for my car as well. I'm all ears , and eyes , if you could post pictures as you go.

To all, the remote oil filter is a good design, it has been in use on air cooled VW's for many years.  A note of caution, always fill the spin on filter before installing it on your system.  Not all but most spin on oil filters have a check valve in them and the flow of the oil in the Honda 600 is sufficient to pop the cap (on the original honda oil filter assembly) on your engine and cause the filter to buldge to where it looks more like a baloon that the spin on filter that was just installed.  How long does it take?  about a minute.

How long does it take?  About a minute of running the engine.  We replaced the center cap and put on another filter and everything was fine.  It was amazing that the rubber hose between the center cap and the remote filter didn't blow.

Mark I will put the whole thing here as I progress. http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/v ... 5004054ccb I am trying to determine if making a bullet aluminum cover is better than modifying the stock cover as Bill C. did. I will probably opt for modifying  the stock cap.
