To rebuild or replace...

I am working on restoring a 1972 AN600 Sedan. The front brakes are freezing up. I have bled the brakes and can free them up a little but they freeze up any time I apply the brakes. I have removed the calipers (which have some gunk and rust but over all seem in pretty good shape) and I am trying to decide if I should use a rebuild kit or go ahead and get a set of already rebuilt calipers. Any advice?
Also I have the original brake lines to the fronts, should I replace them on principle? I don't really believe they are contributing, but they have been sitting bathed in Dot3 for 40+ years...

I could be your front brake lines...the rubber may be collapseing.  Allowing brake fluid to move forward but not back..are they old lines

Check the Check valves.   Pull your entire master cylinder and check it for wear and gunky brake fluid build up.

Brake lines may be part of the problem, but to see if it is pull them, feed a wire into them to see if there is blockage.  If there is none, then that's not the problem, not with just a couple of strokes to the pedal to have them lock up.  The master cylinder has bleed back holes under the lines coming from the reservoir.
The bleed back hole allows the brakes to release.
Often on older master cylinders the bleed back hole becomes clogged with crystallized DOT 3.
It’s best to pull the master cylinder and remove the pistons before sticking anything down the holes so you don’t damage the seals.

Thank you so much for the advice. They are the original brake lines, I will check them for patency. I have found that the calipers are pretty gunked up. I will also pull the master cylinder this week to check it out as well. Thank you, Britt
