Now this may seem like a silly question. Here in New zealand, we have
both 91 and 96octane fule, but both without lead in the fuel. you can
buy a additive to add to the fuel for older vehicles to lubricate the
valves and the sorts. But Honda? is this one of those cars that needs
this additive with unleaded fuels... and what octane is the best.
I have been unsure of this for the past few years, and now one has
been able to give me a yes or no answer. more like.. "well maybe i
think"

my US honda manual says it takes high octane leaded
fuel. Mine pings (detonates) a tad at RPM's so I'd go
96 with the additive unless your head has been rebuilt
with hardnened seats.

Hi every one
In europe leaded fuel is not available.We have to choose between 95
and 98 unledaded fuel.
In the begining i used 95 in my N600 , but now i use 98. With 98 UF
all engines works really better. We use also unleaded fuel in
S600/800 but only with 98.
We don't use any additive and I think you don't have to replace valve
seats. because there are 10 years our german friends use unledaded
fuel with no problems ( detonation) .
The only problem we had, was to replace gasoline hoses . Old rubber
don't like unleaded fuel.
Maybe the engines has got different compression ratio in relation of
each market( USA, Europe, Australia japan) So you have to adjust the
octan level to use it correctly.

That is so true, I buy my Z600 in
North Carolina Dec. 28, 2002 and I use regular gas Half of the trip back
home, I live in Florida 686 miles south of NC, an I decided to tray Super 98
octane unleaded gas and the car ran much better for the next 300 and some
miles back home. Now I only used the super unleaded gas.
