Winshield R&R!

Bill,could you give us some tips on R&R windshields,so we don't have
to have a nervous breakdown!!

Well, First taking it out, use a flat knife and just cut off the outer edge.
Then go around the windshield and work it out of the seal, use both hands
(one on the inside and the other on the outside. Lift it out and put it
where it will not fall over, or someone will not step on it. Do all the
body work and bring it up to a rust free surface. Putting the windshield
back in is another chore that unless you have done them before need the
professionals touch. I found a shop that does it at my home and the guy
really knew what he was doing. That rope trick that Honda uses only works
if the dash is removed from the front and the gadget shelf is removed from
the rear (on sedans). Even then use liberal amounts of silicone spray
lubricant. Then I use a black silicone seal to finish any area that needs
some help to seal. Push in extra rubber seal as you can so if there is
shrinkage it wont leave a gap.
