Hi Jason;
Sounds like something is a-miss. Use a 17mm open end wrench on the pulley
side of the engine and try to turn it over with the trans in neutral. If it
turns open the oil filler cap and see if the cam is turning at the same
time. Also, when you took your starter to the rebuild shop did they put a
new bendex on it? For some reason there is a book out there that says a
bendex from a 510 Datsun will work, it doesn't.
If the Oil pump rod cracked and is not supplying enough oil to keep the
upper end lubricated, then there is a slow process that causes the cam to
eventually freeze up in the end bearings (caps).
