I just replaced my Coupe hatch weatherstrip with the one that Bill C sells. After applying it I discovered that the hatch would not close. I climbed inside and watched the way the Hatch's latch engaged the strike on the body of the car. I discovered that if I took the strike off the car, banged it flat with a hammer (so that it would rest about 1/2" closer to the back of the car from it's original position) and bolted it back in sitting a bit higher than originally, the hatch closes and locks fine.
Hmmm... I just looked at the parts catalog. It appears from the diagram that the strike is SUPPOSED to be flat. I guess it was tweaked earlier in it's life to make up for the old, worn-flat weatherstrip? Anyway, the position of the strike (up/down and forward/back) seems to be the key to getting one's hatch to close well.

Hi Steve;
Glad to hear you were able to work it out. Will you be joining us for the On Line Car Show?
