It seems that you have it figured out, but one thing I didn't see mentioned is the float, yours looked a bit chewed up. Make sure it still floats.
As for the power source, it runs on body feed which is 12V. And, as was mentioned, just hook up a volt meter up to it and it should register.
Caution, don't use silicone gasket sealer on the gasket. If it falls into the tank (the screws will push it through the holes) it can plug up the tank.
And speaking of tanks, if your having trouble getting the Gas nozzle into the Sedan Filler I have found a 1 inch Dia. 12 inch long vinyl tube fits the filler tube and the gas nozzle goes right in. Caution, push the vinyl tube about 3 inches into the filler tube then watch how much you are puttin in and that you don't fill to fast or to much. Out here in California the EPA has a rubber sleeve that is supposed to capture the fumes. All it does on a Honda 600 is prevent us from getting gas in our tank.
Tap the vinyl tube a few times to get out all the remaining fuel and place it in a bag in the trunk of you Sedan. It works great.
