successful engine swaps?

I've got a non-running 1972 AZ600 coupe. Would it make better sense
(financially and from the standpoint of every day use) to swap drive
trains with a more common/powerful make model than to rebuild the air
cooled unit? I live in Wisconsin, and the parts stores look at me
like I'm making things up when I ask what they have...

I've heard that an engine swap would be very expensive as that would
require fabrication and other tid bits. But I don't know much.
Hondawizard75 on ebay (Mike)sells rebuild engines and might have the
parts you need, http://www.honda600shop.com/. Or you could check out
this site, http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cars_model7892/. If they have
what you need, it's going to be expensive.

im in the same boat as well, granted i can't leave well enough alone
ill be attempting a swap within the coming months, im having such a
hard time finding rebuild kits i mean all i wanted was gasket but
have been given little input so i've decide that i'll fabricate a
mounting system for a newer honda engine. I figure a mini cooper can
accept a new honda engine than a little enginuity can be applied to
my 600s, anyways goodluck.

If money is not a question, then neither should your desired engine swap. But if your looking for daily transportation then there are plenty of winter cars up there for one tenth the price.

Have you written Bill Colford at billmyong@... regarding a gasket
kit for your engine? He makes and sells them. When you write him be as
specific as possible. If you need a parts catalog to get numbers from, you

i want a new engine for racing and reliabilty and possibly for the
shear novelty, the only resource i lack is time.

If you want an new engine for racing, by all means do it. Just let me see how you get it done after you're through. If you want it for racing only, then you'd probably be able to put in a 600RR engine or even a Hayabusa. You just wouldn't be able to go reverse. :D I'd like to put in a more potent engine in my n600 when I have the funds. But as for now, I'm going to get some performance carbs or go turbo.

ask around for a Rocketdyne H-1powerplant. excellent specific impulse characteristics.
might even fit. you may need to install a larger fuel tank though...

yeah it has to be if hes talking about specific impulse. i rember
seeing some doode doing it in a silver z from new zealand just google
image jet powered honda.
