the Honda from the Island of Dr Moreau . . . . .

Post by T W S »

hi Everyone, i was on here a few months back. i had bought a 72' Z600. it was a parts car that probably should have been junked but i had never seen one of these cars and thought it was pretty darn cool. the rockers were gone, the passenger side rear quarter was caved in, ALL of the brake components were removed and the engine block had a 3" hole in the front of the crank case, no rear hatch, front inner fenders were completely rusted out too-all in all~pretty rough. i fabricated an outer floor on each side so i could have something for an inner rocker and outer rocker to weld on to on each side then fabricated an inner and outer rocker, welded them on and they turnt out pretty good! then i pulled out the quarter on the passenger side and its coming out rather well too. but i really just dont have the expertise and access to all the parts it would take to get this thing together. i sure dont want to throw it away AND i bought all new tires that are on
it. being in Minnesota, there are not a lot of people that have these cars so all and all its pretty hard to get a good game plan to get it on the road. i read about the $3000 dollar engine rebuild and im poor so that kind of money is just not in the cards. i guess i figured if i could keep the body stock id like to repower the car .. .. . i thought about putting in the brake system and engine/trans from a GEO or maybe a Ford Festiva . .. .im just looking for a drivetrain thats small enough for the car with the right size braking components.i need something that i can just walk into an auto parts store and be able to get parts for. i also want to keep the stock tires but i know thats going to raise problems with the gearing as compared to a car with larger ones. im sure i cant be the first person to do this so i was just wondering what kind of drivetrain anyone else may have tried that was fairly straight forward. i know its sure not going to be any
show car. i'd just really like to find a realistic way for me to get this car on the road. Would really like to know if theres any cars that are common that would make good candidates for a repower??? also, im not looking for a car to do burnouts with. i really would just like a drive train that can get my car down the road. thanks, Woof
