Amarericanizing Rear Brakes

I recently went hunting for some donut style  5/8" wheel cylinder seals for the earlier N600.  Of course, not much luck.  My last stop was a well established company specializing in brake and clutch rebuilds.  The individual I spoke with had a little over 40 years experience in the field.  Anyway, I showed him the little wheel cylinder, piston and seal.   His comments were to "Americanize" it.  Cut off the nipple that holds the seal, grind it flat and install a normal 5/8 cup seal like the ones used on most American cars and which are readily available.
