I don't know about aluminum as a material for the center roller. The metal is soft and the cam chain will chip away at it causing these chips to fall into the oil and get trapped in the roller cages of the crankshaft. Ultimately causing excessive wear in the crankshaft roller cages and destroying the crank shaft. I looked at making them out of stainless but thought the price high.
