I have two '72 coupes, neither of which has been driven in a long time. They are both pretty complete, with no major parts missing. Both have good Montana salvage titles. The blue one is pretty rough in the body-- some old Bondo is visible, and the roof is crinkly (probably from some kid playing on it). The engine ran when I parked it, but I've never driven it more than to move it. The orange one has a very nice, straight body. The kid I bought it from tried to adjust the cam timing or something, and got lost. I'll start from square one with that one, and make sure nothing is radically adjusted wrong or broken. The cars are stored in another state (dry garage), and I haven't gotten to work on them in a long time.
I've always been partial to the sedan, and I'd really rather have one decent sedan than two "project" coupes. I found a sedan for sale here in Colorado over the weekend. Guy is looking at getting $2500 for it. It has a really bad rattle-can paint job (red/white), and looks like it may have had some amateur body work done at some time. I took a pass, but if it had been more solid and stock, I would have considered trading both coupes for it. The car is in Strasburg, CO, east of Denver. I can't find the ad, so the guy must have pulled it.
Anyone out there love to trade a solid sedan for two "project" coupes? Assuming both engines are good, are my two parts cars worth quite a bit more than a "runner" sedan? My original intent was to get the orange coupe running, using parts from the blue one if needed, and just cannibalize the blue one for parts. I think the body issues on the blue one probably keep it from being a good "daily driver" candidate, but it's very complete as a parts car.
Thanks in advance for any ideas and/or guidance on how to transform two good coupes to one good sedan. Sorry, I don't have any pictures at all, but I can hopefully take some in a couple of weeks when I go get the cars.
BTW, I also have a very solid '87 CRX Si that I bought to fix up and flip. Interior 9/10, body 8/10, runs good. No "rice out", stock engine, no mods at all except for a rather interesting custom paint job. (http://pen-gwin.blogspot.com/2011/01/new-toy-contd.html)
