I am going to check out a 72 coupe that has been garaged for about 10 years. I plan to spin the motor and check the compression. What are the common failure points on this car and what warning signs/indications should I look for?
I will bring a fresh battery and some jumper cables. Most likely will not have the key for this pre-inspection. I plan to put it in neutral and "hot wire" it to spin the engine. The car is buried in a garage behind a 70 sedan, so it will be tough to get on the street. Any pointers on how/what to check out on this car would be appreciated.
This is a California car, and the body seem to be in pretty good shape. Interior is average, with rips in the driver's seat.
Assuming (oops, I used that word) that the body is rust free, average interior, motor spins and the compression is "good" and the owner has keys and title in hand....how much should I offer? I know that is a loaded question, but I need a price range.
I will pull off the valve cover and inspect the rocker arms and cam lobes...look at the CV joints, check for evidence of major oil leaks...again, any suggestions will be appreciated.
There are actually 3 hondas; 1 70 sedan, 1 72 coupe and 1 more in another garage I have yet to see. The 72 coupe has 12K miles on it and was manufactured in 9/72.

I am interested in Coupes. Did not get a chance to see the 3rd Honda, so not sure if it is a Sedan or Coupe.

I am picking up the coupe this weekend.
There are still 2 1970 sedans. One red with thin white racing stripes.
Will take pictures and post. The other sedan is burried and looks to have front tne damage.
