Thanks Bill, I have seen that at the site before but we are talking about the bearings in the cooling fan assembly itself, not the drive belt pulleys.

Hi Mike;
Ok, I thought some one was talking about the side fan pulley wheels. Just a thought, and I have not had to redo these bearings for a very long time. But with other bearings and bolts just stuck I found that "CRC Freeze-off" really works. It's much like heating the shaft, but you can't get to the shaft and aluminum tends to do funny things with a torch applied. But this Freeze-off stuff takes a different approach causing dissimilar metals to contract which allows them to be pulled apart.
The last time I had a pulley taken off the fan assembly I took it to a machine shop and they had it off in a few minutes.
Then replacing the bearings was a snap. Reassembly was not a problem, but I took care not to place any pressure on the plastic fan. If you need numbers for the bearings I think I still have a set of them stored away, just have to dig them out.

Hi Bob;
This is the number I have on file.
Cooling fan
bearing #6201RS .
However, before getting into the process of pulling (no pun intended) thins apart. Try spraying some WD-40 on the belt.
These belts are known for making noises. Also, if you can use a Mechanics-stethoscope, this is from JC Whitney, but Harbor Freight has them too.

This way you can localize your diagnostics and listen to the bearing. Some do go, many more are just a belt squeak.

I had the pulleys out some years back and found them to be devoid of grease. I pried off the race covers and added some but the bearings had already been damaged some and were a little rough. They have gotten worse this winter. The fan bearing is as smooth as can be but the two pulleys are not. I had wondered how to get the bearings out until I saw the link to that homemade puller! Can do. Thanks.
