Are Honda 600 gas caps vented ?

I seem to have a fuel starvation problem after driving on the highway for extended periods of 5-10 min or more, my gascap is NOT vented.
I wonder if it should be ?

I don't know if they are supposed to be vented or not.But for diagnoses purposes try running down the highway without the gas cap on.

Mark I could not find a vent on mine but when I had my carb rebuilt it came with a different jet and the same thing was happening to me.  I change out my jet with one I had in a different carb and that solved the problem.  but your filter in the carb could be getting plugged again and that you will see when you check your jet.

Tom,
I drove to work this AM, took my gas cap off, still runs out of fuel...... and I completely removed the tiny filter before the needle and seat about a month ago.
I also put in a  4-7psi. Purolator micro fuel pump, it has 6psi. but not a lot volume.  Could be the 1/4" line is plugged, it's frustrating but I'll figure it out
Which jet did you replace?

Mark- my sedan did the same thing years back- I found that the first three feet of metal fuel line coming out of the tank was filled with rust particles. After fighting for days trying to clear it-gave up -cut it out and replaced the section with rubber fuel hose. The problem hasn't resurfaced. Good luck.

I am in the business of reviving old cars that have been sitting for decades. The first thing is to make sure tank is spotless.Any issues with the tank will cause problems later on,it must be spotless inside. Next is the metal line from rear to front, many times I have to router those out,I usually use an old VW clutch cable attached to a drill and spin it through the metal line running the drill in reverse.Then of coarse renew or overhaul fuel pump and carb. and replace all fuel hoses and filter. Sometimes you may need to add a filter up front right before the carb. as there may be some crud or scaling in the long metal line that will come out as fuel flows through it. Basically everything need thorough cleaning in the fuel system and correctly filtered. You may choose to run a filter in front of the fuel pump, but make sure you use correct micron filter as not to restrict pump.A 100 micron pump is recommended before pump.

I use a 10 micron marine spin on fuel filter mounted in the engine compartment.  Ethanol fuel is solvent and will release any old varnish/rust into the fuel system.  A 10 micron before the carb will keep out about 90% of the particulate. I also replaced the fuel line on my 72 Z600.  I took the tank to the radiator shop who cleaned and dipped it.  Still had restriction in the fuel lines till I finally changed them.  Hope this is helpful.

I think I'm getting to the bottom of this low fuel flow issue. When I'd disconnect the fuel filter I'd hear a PSSSSST, just like opening a pop can, but no flow. It appears I have constricted fuel lines. Funny how I can shove .060" mechanics wire in but the 1/4" line is still occluded. Even my primo new-used tank appears to have a constricted pick up tube. I may resort to drilling a tapping a fitting into the tank drain plug for a new pick up. I've been systematically testing and cleaning / replacing each fuel line segment.

Mechanics wire mat not want to go through bends in the steel lines. On VWs I use an old VW clutch cable,but that may not fit through the Honda lines.I have heard however that the inside part of a speedo or tach cable might work. If you can find one of these cables,chuck them in a drill and router the lines out. Tapping into the drain plug will work but would be considered unsafe.
